Wales in Bloom Success
This year the Town Council entered its first Wales in Bloom competition and was successful in winning first prize in the ‘Conservation Schemes’ category, of which the Woodland Site on Chester Avenue was the proud winner.
The site has been the Town Council’s responsibility for several years and was developed with funding from the Forestry Commission and Cydcoed. It was managed in partnership with the Communities First Programme who have undoubtedly done an excellent job. Volunteers from the local community also played an important role and their commitment is a credit to them.
The Woodland Site is an exceptional asset for Kinmel Bay and Towyn as well as being an educational facility for local school children. The Mayor – Councillor Mariette Roberts said: ‘It is a testament to everyone involved as their hard work has turned a dumping ground into a national award winning site.’
The two other sites entered were: the newly planted garden at the front of the Community Resource Centre in Kinmel Bay and The Towyn Parkland on Towyn Way East. Both received excellent marks and we look forward to entering them next year. |

CCTV - Towyn
Towyn is now, hopefully, a safer place as a result of this Council.
£9000 was put into the new CCTV camera at Towyn Crossroads. We have also agreed to ensure that it remains in good working order by paying the £2000 per year maintenance cost
Our Mayor, Cllr Geoff Corry said ‘It’s great that we now have a permanent camera at the crossroads. It’s a busy junction with lots going on. I’m sure everyone will be happier knowing it’s there.’ |
